Museum vase smashed
MIAMI- An artist in South Florida faces charges for smashing a museum vase worth $1 million to protest a lack of local art on display.
Maximo Caminero is accused of grabbing a colored vase by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei and when he was told to put it down, smashed it on the floor at Miami's new art museum.
Caminero told police he did it in protest.
He's a painter and is charged with criminal mischief, which can be a felony punishable for up to five years in prison if the property is worth more than $1,000.
Caminero declined to comment on Monday and says he'll have a press conference on Tuesday.
