Murray debuts in Day 3 of U. S. Open
NEW YORK - It's day 3 of the U.S. Open and the men's defending champ finally takes the court for his first round match.
Andy Murray takes on France's Michael Llodra as part of the evening schedule in Arthur Ashe Stadium. Not only is Murray going to try to defend a Grand Slam title for the first time in his career, he's going to try to do it coming off his historic Wimbledon victory. That made him the first British male to win the All England Club title since Fred Perry in 1936.
This could also be the day that James Blake says good-bye to competitive tennis. The former top-five player announced this week that the Open would be his final tournament. And his retirement party could come quickly against 6-10 Ivo Karlovic. The 34-year old Croatian won a hard-court tournament in Colombia last month.
Wednesday will be family day for the Williams sisters, with top-seed and defending champ Serena playing a second round match against Galina Voskoboeva and unseeded Venus meeting China's Zheng Jie.
