Murder victim had restraining order on another man
BATON ROUGE- News 2 discovered a man who was shot and killed after answering his door in Baton Rouge had a restraining order against another man.
Court documents show a restraining order was filed in 2010 and was dismissed three months later. We are not naming the man listed in the restraining order, because authorities have not listed him as a suspect.
According to East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputies, 41-year old Ellis Banks opened his door just before 6:30pm at the Jefferson Lakes Apartments when someone opened fire. Witnesses told News 2 they saw a man running away after hearing the gunshots.
"I heard the shots and thought it was fireworks," one neighbor said.
Neighbors told News 2 they are very concerned. This type of crime does not happen in their quiet apartment complex.
Sheriff's Deputies have not released any information on suspects or possible motives.
