BAKER - Police said one person arrested in connection with a recent home burglary in Baker was a murder suspect out of jail on bond, wearing an ankle monitoring bracelet.
Chief Mike Knaps with Baker Police said Derrick Lucas, who was accused of a 2011 murder in Baker, was arrested along with two other suspects for robbing a home on Balm Street this past Monday. Police also arrested Stevon Jones, 17, and Broderick Morgan, 20, both of Baker.
Knaps said police were called out to the home for a report of forced entry, and arrested the suspects based on eyewitness descriptions from the scene. He said they also recovered property stolen from the home.
Lucas was accused of killing Joshua Weathersby, whose body was found in the area of Ray Weiland back in August of 2011. Knaps said since his arrest, Lucas was released on bond with an ankle monitor and later arrested for criminal trespass prior to the burglary.
