NEW ORLEANS - A man who was being sought as a suspect in a Louisiana crime spree that included bank robbery, murder and kidnapping, has committed suicide in Oklahoma City, Okla.

A deputy U.S. Marshal confirmed to the Banner-News in Magnolia, Ark., that 26-year-old Stephen Salsbury Jr., who had a shoot-out in Columbia County Thursday night with an off-duty Louisiana officer, committed suicide on Friday.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Michael Clark, of the U.S. Marshal's Service Western District of Oklahoma, says he was at the scene at the time of the shooting and Salsbury was "genuinely dead."
