Multiple apartments burned, more than thirty homeless after blaze
BATON ROUGE – A firefighter and two residents sustained minor medical complications in an overnight fire at a large apartment complex on Jefferson Highway east of Airline Highway.
Thirty-five people were displaced in the fire at Jefferson Lakes early Saturday morning.
A handful of apartment units burned as the fire tore through two floors of a building.
The St. George Fire Department is investigating.
Those who complained of injuries did not need to be taken to the hospital. The firefighter was treated on the scene for dehydration.
