Movie shoot in Mid-City gives residents hope

Mid-City is one of the backdrops of the Hollywood movie production entitled 'Battle:  Los Angeles'.

To get the area prepped for filming, movie crews transformed some old businesses along Florida Boulevard, near N. Eugene Street.  For example, the building which used to house a nightclub now looks like a booming Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop.

Residents say the transformation reminds them of what the area once was.  They say they want to see that again.

Community leaders tell us they're battling drugs, prostitution and crime in that area today.

Leaders believe they can build on the excitement of the movie to spur change.  A meeting has already been set for this week.
