Motorists told to avoid I-10 East after big rig wreck
BATON ROUGE - Police warned drivers to avoid I-10 East in Baton Rouge after an 18-wheeler wreck this morning.
The truck overturned on the right shoulder, blocking two lanes of traffic according to Baton Rouge Police.
Sgt. Don Kelly said all lanes of traffic would need to be shut down in order to upright the truck and get it moved, which would take a few hours.
He said motorists should avoid using I-10 East until cleanup operations are finished. Eastbound traffic is advised to take the Old Bridge into Baton Rouge if possible. If already on the I-10 bridge, exit at Highland/Nicholson or take I-110 northbound. Southbound traffic on I-110 headed toward downtown should exit before the I-110/I-10 split.
Motorists can re-enter I-10 anywhere east of E. Washington.
