BATON ROUGE - A Sulphur man is dead following a crash Tuesday evening in West Baton Rouge Parish.

It happened just after 6:30 p.m. on I-10 eastbound near LA 415.

State troopers say 51-year-old John Tarasiewicz was driving his Ford pickup when he suddenly ran off the roadway.

He tried to correct himself, but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a drainage channel.

Troopers say the vehicle then became airborne before bursting into flames.

Tarasiewicz was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
