Mother, son arrested in teen party investigation
GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies arrested an Ascension Parish woman and her 15-year-old son after a party where investigators said they found marijuana and alcohol.
Deputies arrested 33-year-old Allison Michel's son on Feb. 21, then arrested Michel after investigators said they found evidence she bought alcohol for the party.
Sheriff's deputies said they got a tip on Feb. 21 that teens were using drugs and drinking alcohol at Michel's home in Gonzales. When they arrived, deputies said they found Michel and several juveniles at the home, which was also filled with clouds of smoke that smelled like marijuana.
Investigators said Michel told them she'd just gotten home a few minutes before they arrived, and gave them permission to search the house. Deputies said they found marijuana and several pipes as well as some cans of alcohol, and said that Michel's son told them the drugs were his.
Deputies arrested Michel's son, charging him with marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia, but did not arrest Michel at that time. Investigators said they continued looking into who provided the alcohol to the party, and this week obtained surveillance video from a store that showed Michel buying the alcohol found at the party.
Deputies arrested Michel Thursday on suspicion of 14 counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors, and booked her into the parish jail.
