PRAIRIEVILLE- The mother of the man accused of killing 15-year old Claire Carline in a head on collision says he was on stimulants during the time of the crash.

Dwight Perrilloux's mother told News 2 her son has ADHD and just finished a 12-hour shift at a plant in Geismar before making his way to classes at ITI.

She claims her son was not drunk or on illegal drugs during the crash and that state police got it wrong when he was charged with being impaired.

According to court documents and an arrest synopsis from the Ascension Parish Sheriff, Perrilloux was arrested for trying to sell weed at Dutchtown High School in 2013.

An on-campus deputy found four bags of marijuana on the teen and charged him with intent to distribute.

Court documents show Perrilloux missed at least four separate court dates, but was eventually allowed to enter a pre-trial diversion program for narcotics after he passed a drug test.

Perrilloux met with someone from the DA's office as recently as last Friday for that program and his mother says he only had about 20 days left before completing the narcotics diversion program.

State Police say the two girls injured in the crash, they say Perrilloux is responsible for, are recovering at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital after surgery.

Funeral arrangements for their sister Claire have not been determined.
