BATON ROUGE -Family and friends are mourning the death of a mother of three after she was murdered.
Baton Rouge Police say 25-year-old Rochel Christal was found dead after being shot several times inside her home at 5819 Byron Street in the Brookstown area of Baton Rouge.
Her front door had been kicked in, but nothing was stolen. Baton Rouge Police have ruled out a home invasion, and they believe this is a domestic dispute. They believe an ex-boyfriend could be responsible, but they have not named any suspects at this time.
It's the 19th murder in the parish so far this year. According to News 2's records, that number is up from 5 murders at this point last year.
Police say two of Christal's three children were home at the time of the shooting.
Dozens of friends gathered at Christal's home Monday morning offering support and paying their respects.
Christal's aunt, Lela Bilal described her niece as a loving person that enjoyed life and loved her kids.
"She didn't deserve what she got. They way that they took her out was the wrong way, and that person deserves to be punished for what they have done," Bilal said.
Family members point to an ex-boyfriend as the shooter. Christal's mother believes he was staying across the street from her daughter's house, but Baton Rouge Police could not confirm.
Christal's mother will raise the grandchildren.
