ASCENSION PARISH- Detectives are still trying to figure out who killed a man in the parking lot of a closed bar over the weekend.
Investigators say 27-year old Joshua banks was found shot to death multiple times on Saturday at the Alligator Bayou Bar.
Today, his mom pleaded for his killer to surrender.
"If you have any kind of heart, any blood running through your veins, you did the crime, I want you to do the time," Mary Weatherspoon said.
Weatherspoon spends her free time volunteering in the community and preaching a non violent message. She has worked closely with the Low Pants, No Chance Campaign. She told News 2, her son's death will only push her to work harder.
"I'm going to devote the rest of my life to curb the violence," Weatherspoon said.
Many of the people who live near the closed bar describe it as a quiet and safe area.
"I hope this doesn't start a trend," Cal LeBlanc said. "I feel safe out here and want to keep it that way."
Right now, detectives have not released any information on suspects or motives.
