Mother charged after cocaine found in baby's system

5 years ago January 19, 2010 Jan 19, 2010 Tuesday, January 19 2010 Tuesday, January 19, 2010 9:13:47 AM EST in News

A woman from Holden who was arrested on drug charges earlier this month now faces upgraded charges after investigators say they found cocaine in her 2-month-old son's system.

Colleen Poche was re-booked last week on a charge of second degree cruelty to a juvenile.

She and the boy's father, Ronald Carter, Jr., were originally arrested after investigators say Carter and another man robbed a pharmacy.

Deputies say Poche was caught selling illegal drugs in the presence of her son, and they say investigators found two bags of pills and a razor blade in the baby's bassinet.

The boy was removed from the home and placed into protective custody by case workers with the state Office of Community Services.
