BATON ROUGE- Mosquitoes are hatching after several days of wet weather and East Baton Rouge Mosquito Control is working to eliminate the pesky insects.

Inspector Marcus Goss visits a dozen or more homes a day. He looks for standing water where mosquito larvae thrive and also fogs the area with insecticide.

"I got them to come out here because mosquitoes are eating my wife up. They don't bother me too much," Charles Smith said.

Mosquito Control suggests that residents regularly check their property and empty standing water from containers to eliminate mosquito larvae.

Anyone in East Baton Rouge Parish can request to have their yard inspected and fogged. Taxpayer dollars pay for the service, so you're not billed when Mosquito Control comes to your home. To request service call 225-356-3297.
