Morgan City-based Swiftships Shipbuilders LLC has been awarded a $181 million contract to build nine patrol boats for Iraq's Navy, a deal that will add about 100 additional workers.

The boats will be constructed at the company's yard in Morgan City, and officials said it's the second most valuable contract ever acquired by the company.

Swiftships also is getting a $23.6 million contract to provide training for the boats for the Iraqi Navy.
