MORGAN CITY - Flooding isn't as bad as some first though it would be.
That's because of many preventative measures that have been implemented to protect Morgan City and the surrounding communities have done their job.
Mayor Tim Matte said Tuesday morning the barge that was sunk in Bayou Chene last week has made a significant impact on protecting low-lying areas.
"There's a variety of circumstances. Probably the dry weather that we've had. We had northern winds last week you know all of those things have helped contribute... But it has been successful. We've been able to knock that water level down and keep it from rising," Matte said.
