It is a warm and muggy morning across the Baton Rouge area with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. Scattered showers and storms are developing along the Coastal Parishes and drifting northward. Temperatures are in the mid 70s.
We will see scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms from this morning through the afternoon hours with a mix of sun and clouds. They are coming from a cold front that is moving into the Southeast U.S. from the north, a few disturbances moving into Louisiana from the Great Plains and daytime heating. Some of these storms could be strong to possibly severe with damaging winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning strikes. High temperatures will get into the lower 90s before the storms pop-up.
The storms will continue into the evening hours, and then some showers will linger around town overnight. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy with lows in the mid 70s.
