More men accused of raping 12-year-old
PORT ALLEN - Two more men are accused of taking part in the repeated rape a 12-year-old girl.
Port Allen Police arrested Brandon Edwards, 26, charging him with oral sexual battery and Clarence Tillman, 60, charging him with principal to rape and principal to oral sexual battery.
Police say Tillman watched as Edwards and other men raped the girl.
Investigators said Ivy Martin, who was arrested last week, began raping the girl after he gave her gifts and money. He then invited additional men to join him.
Police arrested two other men, Arthur Jones and Michael Sherbin, earlier this week. According to arrest reports, Sherbin admitted to raping the girl after watching Martin have sex with her, while Jones only admitted to watching Martin rape the girl.
"It's real tough, to keep your bearings in an incident like that, an innocent child who is looking forward to a good, successful life and now these grown men come in and abruptly interrupt that with these despicable acts," said Port Allen Police Chief Esdron Brown.
One of the girl's family members was in court today while the two men faced a judge. She was visibly shaken when speaking to News 2, calling the men "garbage."
"She's withdrawn now, she barely talks, you could tell she was a happy, go-luck girl, she was bubbly and now she barely talks," said the family member, who's identity is being withheld to protect the girl.
"These men are garbage, they don't give a darn about anybody else but their own selfishness, she wants them to be in jail for the rest of their lives, she wants to protect other kids, she wants to get them off the streets so there's no other kids that this could happen to," the woman said.
Edwards and Tillman are in West Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
