DENHAM SPRINGS - The driver of a car that crashed head-on into a school bus, injuring more than a dozen students near Denham Springs on Tuesday, has been booked with first-offense driving while intoxicated.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says in a new release that 32-year-old Brandon J. Vince, of Livingston, also faces 17 counts of vehicular negligent injuring and one count of reckless operation and several drug charges.

Vince was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on Wednesday.

Deputies were called to the crash around 8 a.m. Tuesday, after Vince's car crossed the center line on Brown Road and struck the bus.

The bus was carrying 31 students to Juban Parc Elementary. Officials described the students' injuries as minor.

It was unclear whether Vince has an attorney.
