HAMMMOND - The latest arrest has been made in a violent crime-spree where victims were shot, killed or injured in Livingston and Tangipahoa Parish.

On Friday, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 27-year-old Kacey Lee Lanier for his participation in events just hours after a 27-year-old woman was murdered.

Lanier is accused of helping a murder suspect, 30-year-old Brian Anthony after he shot and killed 27-year-old Heather Cox and attempted to kill his brother. On Oct. 11 Lanier allowed Anthony into his home and helped him hide the gun used in the murder. Lanier also let him stay in his home following the crime.

Lanier drove Anthony to Copper Road where he stole a truck. Additionally, Lanier helped Anthony get another gun that was later used in a drive-by shooting.

Lanier was arrested on obstruction of justice charges and traffic violations.

Information about the attacks was released Thursday, a day after Anthony was arrested near Hammond. Wednesday, Anthony was booked on charges related to the shooting death of Cox early Tuesday morning. Anthony, 30, of Albany, killed Cox in the Loranger area, deputies said.

But, investigators said they later realized Cox was connected to additional shootings and vehicle thefts in Tangipahoa Parish communities of Independence, Amite and Hammond along with places in Livingston Parish.

The sheriff's office said Anthony shot Cox in her car during an argument. Anthony is accused of pushing Cox's lifeless body on the side of Bell Road and drove a few miles to Highway 1054 where he set the car on fire. Anthony was able to get away from the scene in a pickup stolen from the Ponchatoula area.

Once in the pickup, deputies said Anthony managed to get to Hammond where he lured his step brother outside of a house on Bankston Road where he shot him in the arm Tuesday around 9 a.m. The stepbrother, identified as Jackie Moran, was hit in the arm and survived. Deputies said Anthony confessed to wanting to shoot and kill Moran. Investigators said the same gun used to kill Cox was used in the shooting of Moran.

The gun, a Corbry 410/45 long Colt, was stolen from Anthony's stepfather in Livingston Parish.

After the second shooting, deputies said Anthony received help from Kristy Iverstine and Cole Cleveland. Anthony hid the gun and hid on a piece of property until Wednesday morning when deputies said he stole a second pickup truck and another gun from Cooper Road.

Investigators said Anthony used the stolen truck and gun for a drive-by shooting on Highway 442 in Livingston Parish where he shot up a house over an argument involving stolen vehicles. No one was injured in the third shooting.

Deputies arrested Anthony not long after the shooting in Livingston Parish when he drove back into Tangipahoa Parish. Deputies said Anthony had the second stolen gun in his possession, methamphetamine and $900. Deputies said Anthony stole money and drugs from Cox after her death the day before.

In addition to Anthony, both Kristy Iverstine and Cole Cleveland have been arrested and charged with obstruction of justice involving a death.
