A Monroe city employee has been fired from her position as account clerk after being arrested on suspicion of felony theft in the amount of $2,200.
Police say 32-year-old Karmenista K. McGuire admitted to taking $1,000 from the cash drawer on January 28 but said she had brought that back on Tuesday, the day of her arrest.
According to an arrest affivdavit, McGuire denied taking the other $1,200.
Accounting director Stacey Haynie called police after auditing the cash drawer and determining funds were missing.
McGuire was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center and later released on a $5,000 bond.
