MONROE- Officials have closed the primary runway of the Monroe Regional Airport so contractors can complete a $7 million renovation of the air field.
Airport manager Ron Phillips told a Monroe newspaper the primary runway will be closed about a month.
Phillips said Monday commercial airline passengers won't notice any difference in service. He said it would be a temporary inconvenience to pilots and airline personnel because the secondary runway isn't equipped with the same precision landing instruments as the primary runway.
