Mom: Shooting victim could leave hospital this week
BATON ROUGE - The Baton Rouge teen wounded in one of the nation's worst mass shootings could leave the hospital and come home this week, according to her mother.
Kathleen Pourciau said Bonnie Kate, 18, is still in a lot of pain as she continues to recover from being shot in the leg at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo. on July 20. She underwent surgery there before being flown back to recover in Baton Rouge.
Pourciau said they would need to get the pain under control before she could come home, but they hoped that would be sometime later this week.
Authorities said James Holmes, 24, killed 12 people and wounded 58 in the mass shooting. Investigators also had to defuse and remove explosives they said Holmes used to booby-trap his apartment. Prosecutors charged him with two counts of murder or attempted murder for each victim, and possessing explosives.
