Mom mum about cruelty charges
DENHAM SPRINGS - Sheriff's deputies arrested a Livingston Parish woman recently after they said she left two toddlers unsupervised in a running car, and one of them choked themselves unconscious using a car window.
Deputies arrested Candace Gordon, 20, of Denham Springs Monday on charges of cruelty to juveniles and child desertion.
Investigators said on July 3 Gordon had stopped at a Maurepas residence to visit an acquaintance and left her 2-year-old son and 14-month-old daughter in her vehicle while the engine was still running.
While she was inside deputies said her son got out of his car seat and started messing with the window controls, rolling one window on his neck which caused him to pass out.
Someone called 911 and the boy was taken to Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, and released on July 6.
Investigators arrested Gordon on July 8, and she was given a $51,000 bond which she posted on Tuesday.
