Mom arrested after teachers witness beating
BATON ROUGE- A mother faces charges after school administrators told an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's deputy she beat her child in front of them.
Akilah Finley, 32, faces cruelty to a juvenile charges.
According to her arrest report, witnesses saw her smash her son's head into a door frame as they left Eden Park school Thursday morning. Then, they told deputies, she yelled foul language and began to hit the child and stomp on his head.
Finley was arrested at her house after the deputy reported he found the child with bruises on his body.
According to the report, Finley exclaimed "I"m going to jail because I beat his [explicit phrase] with a belt," as she was being arrested.
