OXFORD, Miss. - Mississippi forward Demarco Cox will miss the remainder of the season because of a stress fracture in his left foot.
The 6-foot-8, 272-pound junior has already missed extended time because of the injury. He's played in just seven games, averaging 1.6 points and 1.1 rebounds.
But there was hope that his return could help add depth to the frontcourt, especially after sophomore forward Aaron Jones was lost for the season following a knee injury against Kentucky last week.
The school announced on Thursday that Cox would not return this season. Now the Rebels' only frontcourt reserves are freshmen Anthony Perez and Terry Brutus, who have played limited minutes this season.
Ole Miss (18-4, 7-2 Southeastern Conference) travels to face No. 21 Missouri (16-5, 5-3) on Saturday.
