Missing man found dead on his birthday
BAKER - Police said a body found in a Baker creek Wednesday morning was identified as a man reported missing earlier this week.
Chief Mike Knaps said the they notified the family of Quentin Jones that he had been found dead off Morvant Road.
Knaps said Jones, who was developmentally challenged, had been reported missing this past weekend. His family last saw him on Friday, April 3, and today would have been his 25th birthday.
"Our prayers are with his mother especially," Knaps said in a Baker PD press release.
Investigators said a crew spraying weeds for the city spotted the body Wednesday morning in a creek near a bridge off Morvant Road and notified police. Police initially said the body was found face-down in water, and would be a challenge to identify.
Jones's family said his developmental issues made it so he couldn't communicate with other people. Knaps said they're awaiting an autopsy to determine how he died.
