GONZALES - Family members of a missing Gonzales man with a mental illness tell News 2 that he has been located alive and well by authorities in Houston.

25-year-old Joey Zaffuto was reported missing after his family says he walked down to a local gas station and didn't come back.  Besides a mental condition, Zaffuto was also still recovering from a recent surgery.

Authorities said a photo of him was taken at an ATM withdrawing several hundred dollars, and they later found a bus ticket to Houston in his name at the Baton Rouge Greyhound depot.

Today, Gonzales Police said authorities in Houston had located Zaffuto at an abandoned lot, and took him to a homeless shelter.

His family members said Zaffuto doesn't know anyone in Houston, but had spoken about moving to Texas before.

They are currently on their way to attempt to reunite with him.
