Missing firefighter found dead after canal crash
METAIRIE - Fire department officials said a missing Jefferson Parish firefighter died when a pickup wrecked into a Metairie canal Friday.
According to WWL-TV, a spokesperson with the Jefferson Parish Fire Department said 33-year-old David Yeomans' body was found inside a truck pulled from the canal near West Esplanade at Division Street.
Authorities said it appears the truck was going north on Hessmer Avenue and for some reason drove off the road into the canal near the intersection with West Esplanade.
Yeoman was reported missing early Thursday, and investigators said it's not clear when his pickup went into the canal.
