Missing children, mother found dead in murder-suicide
NEW ORLEANS - Police said they found two missing New Orleans children and their mother dead in a car Thursday in the Crescent City, shortly after a statewide alert went out declaring the children missing.
Investigators told WWL-TV they believe Michelle McCullum, mother of Cylie and Caden, killed her children and then took her own life.
Louisiana State Police sent out a missing or endangered child alert around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The alert said the two children had been reported missing overnight and were believed to be with McCullum, who was armed with a handgun. LSP said at the time the children were likely in danger.
The children were last seen Wednesday night on Treme Street in McCullum's car, according to investigators. Their bodies were later found in the same car on Old Gentilly Road and Grant Street.
