Miss USA Pageant officially returning to Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE - Organizers of the Miss USA Pageant officially confirmed Tuesday that they will come back to the Baton Rouge River Center this July.
The announcement comes a week after Metro Council members approved spending and incentive packages which were part of the agreement to have the pageant return to the parish. In all, the Miss Universe Organization will receive around $330,000 in incentives from the state and city-parish for their repeat performance.
"The 2014 MISS USA Pageant delivered an unprecedented amount of national and international exposure for Baton Rouge, taking its reputation for tourism and business opportunities beyond the local level," said Donald Trump in the pageant's official announcement. "This year's pageant will be no different."
Hotels reported a 25 percent increase on the day of the 2014 pageant over the same day in 2013, according to Miss USA officials. The pageant brought in an estimated $2.6 million in hotel revenue.
The 2015 Miss USA Pageant will be held Sunday, July 12 in Baton Rouge.
