"Miracle mom" lost legs in tornado
HENRYVILLE - Stephanie Decker a tornado survivor, has become known as the "miracle mom."
The Indiana woman lost her legs while protecting her children from devastating tornadoes in March.
This week, Stephanie Decker took her first steps with her first prosthesis.
"Embracing this is a much better way to go than it would be than to just try and hide and keep things away from people. I don't mind sharing. I don't feel insecure, I don't feel, you know, threatened by not having my legs anymore." Decker said.
She lost parts of both her legs in the F-4 tornado on March 2nd which destroyed her home.
"I firmly believe my attitude has helped get me to where I am. It's goose bumps type of feeling for me. We are way ahead of where they ever thought I'd be" Decker commenting about her quick recovery.
"There are times when I just want to get up and go because I'm so fast paced" she said.
Decker will spend the coming days practicing standing and walking.
She's expected to be fitted for the other prosthetic in the coming weeks.
