LAKE CHARLES - A judge in Lake Charles has granted a second delay in the trial of a teenager accused of burning down a Lake Charles park built by thousands of volunteers.

The trial had been scheduled to start Monday.

Defense attorney Robert Shelton requested a delay, and the trial was moved to April.

The 17-year-old is accused of setting the fire that destroyed Shiver Me Timbers Millennium Park on Jan. 9, 2011.

He has been free on $60,000 bond, on a charge of simple arson.

Calcasieu Parish District Attorney John DeRosier has said the teenager wasn't charged with aggravated arson because the blaze was unlikely to endanger any lives.

The park has been rebuilt and reopened in January.
