BATON ROUGE - LSU head coach Les Miles has confirmed he will be meeting with Michigan representatives about the head coaching job there.
Miles made a short statement after Tigers cornerback Patrick Peterson's announcement he will be going into the 2011 NFL draft.
Miles said that "distant conversations" had taken place between his representatives and those from Michigan, and that he understood a meeting will take place. Miles said he did not know when or where that would take place.
Miles said he had met with several underclassmen before the press conference and told them he planned to stay at LSU. He also told reporters that he and his family were "extremely" happy in Baton Rouge.
Michigan fired head coach Rich Rodriguez last week after a 15-22 record. Miles, who graduated from Michigan, had also been a candidate for the position in 2007 but remained at LSU, leading them to a national championship that year.
Miles is also scheduled to speak Tuesday at the American Football Coaches Association's convention in Dallas.
News 2 will have more on Miles' future with the Tigers starting on News 2 at Noon.
