Mike begins cancer treatments Saturday
BATON ROUGE: Mike VI is back in his habitat after spending a few hours in the hospital Saturday morning. The Tiger mascot is being treated for a rare cancer at the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Saturday's procedure was a radiation treatment simulation.
Mike was sedated and multiple CT images of the tumor were acquired. The images will help doctors precisely target the cancer for when he undergoes radiation therapy.
Mike is awake but will remain inside his on campus compound. He is being closely monitored by LSU's attending veterinarian David Baker, DVM, PhD. and his veterinary student caretakers.
