BATON ROUGE- Government Street in Mid City closed overnight Thursday as firefighters battled a fire.
Crews were called to a house, fully engulfed in flames, in the 500 block of South 17th. The fire was between Government and Wisteria.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the kitchen and backporch of the home. However, the fire was so large it damaged the old DeConge's Upholstery Shop.
According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, no one was home at the time of the fire. Fire Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the blaze and who lives in the home.
