LAFAYETTE- The father of missing college student Mickey Shunick questions if his daughter will be found alive after the man accused of killing her was also indicted for another murder where a woman was killed.
Brandon Lavergne was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury for Shunick's murder and kidnapping in addition to the murder of Lisa Pate 13 years ago. That caught many people by surprise.
Tom Shunick asked, "it certainly doesn't look very good, does it?"
"I mean, this guy's murdered before and buried a body. Murdered a girl and buried her body..before. It certainly looks like that's his 'm.o.'"
Prosecutors said they'll seek the death penalty against Lavergne.
Pate's body was found a few months after she went missing in 1999. There's been no sign of Shunick.
Details about what connects Lavergne to the two murders has still not been released.
