Michelle Obama visits New Orleans preschool
NEW ORLEANS - In her effort to get children to eat better and do more physical activity, First Lady Michelle Obama spent some time in a daycare center doing exercises and reading to an energetic group of toddlers and preschoolers.
Earlier Tuesday, Obama spoke at a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in New Orleans.
Obama was greeted by a classroom of children, parents and teachers at the Royal Castle Child Development Center, which focuses on children from families with moderate and low incomes. The first lady did some stretching, jumping and marching in place and singing before reading to the children.
She read "Lunch," a book about a mouse that eats vegetables and fruit, and "Where the Wild Things Are," the children's classic by Maurice Sendak.
