Michael Irvin headlines LSU coaching clinic
BATON ROUGE - NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin said Friday he almost became an LSU Tiger.
That, among other anecdotes were part of Irvin's speech to a gathering of coaches at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center which was part of LSU's annual coaching clinic.
Irvin says he enjoyed his recruiting visit to LSU, but ultimately chose the Miami Hurricanes before moving on to the NFL.
Other speakers included offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.
Following the speeches, the coaches broke into workshops led by various LSU coaches.
Former Tigers wide receiver Jarvis Landry was scheduled to speak, but ended up having to cancel due to flight problems getting out of Arizona.
The Tigers will scrimmage Saturday at Tiger Stadium as the move towards their spring game on April 18.
