Metro Council passes EBR budget
BATON ROUGE - The East Baton Rouge Metro Council passed the city-parish operating budget Tuesday night.
The $804 million budget passed with no amendments, on a 9-to-2 vote.
Mayor Kip Holden's latest budget includes a 3 percent merit raise for eligible city workers, 25 new police officers, 30 new firefighters, training academies for both organizations, and upgrades for the downtown area including riverfront access and design for a pedestrian and bicycle corridor linking downtown communities.
