Metairie teen struck by car while skateboarding has died
METAIRIE – A teen who was struck by a car while riding his skateboard in Metairie earlier this week has died, local media reports.
According to WWLTV, 14-year-old Ryan Marchand was transported to a hospital in critical condition after the crash Monday night.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s deputies say a 29-year-old woman was driving her vehicle when she hit the boy.
WWLTV reports that the woman told deputies she hit something in the roadway but did not know what it was. When she stopped to investigate, authorities say she discovered the boy in a nearby canal.
No charges have been filed against the driver
Tuesday, Marchand’s mother posted on Facebook asking friends to don’t stop praying for her son.
“There has been no change… It’s not good please don’t stop praying we need a miracle… please keep my baby boy in your thoughts and prayers…” the post said.
