Metairie Park Country Day beats Arcadia for 1A hoops title
MONROE - Metairie Park Country Day rallied from a 20-point second half deficit and held Arcadia scoreless in overtime to win the Louisiana Boys' 1A State Championship with a 60-54 win Thursday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe.
Metairie Park Country Day (22-10) trailed 41-21 with 2:42 remaining in the third before going on a rally that included a 7-1 run to end regulation. Arcadia (21-9) didn't score a field goal in the final 10:20 of play.
Michael Corchiani led the Cajuns with 15 points, all of which came in the second half and overtime. Scott Plaisance added 14 points.
Arcadia's Eric Brown and Danquarian Fields each had 17 points, while Antwine Baker was 6-for-6 from the field for 16 points but did not attempt a shot in the second half or overtime.
