NEW ORLEANS- A memo released Monday by the group that oversees Superdome operations suggested concerns with the electrical system inside the complex.
Tests on the dome's electrical feeders showed "some decay and a chance of failure." The tests were ordered to prevent blackouts similar to ones in 2011 at Candlestick Park where the San Francisco 49ers were playing a nationally televised Monday night game.
The memo was dated October 15th, and was written before a $1 million spending plan on improvements, including $600,000 for electrical upgrades.
Sunday night, the Superdome went dark while hosting the Super Bowl. It lasted 34-minutes. Monday night, the cause was still unclear.
