BATON ROUGE - People lined up across Baton Rouge to get their lottery tickets before the first Mega Millions drawing in Louisiana tonight.
Barbara Magruder told News 2 she's been playing the lottery ever since it started in Louisiana.
"I first started with just a dollar a week," she said, "but now it's two dollars a week."
Magruder's been a faithful Powerball player, but decided to give Mega Millions a try.
"I hope it's just a quick pick because I hate sitting down trying to figure out numbers," she said.
Ticket sales began Wednesday, and people we spoke to today said the news is spreading fast. Phil Sanamo buys a ticket for every Powerball drawing and lotto, and today added two Mega Million tickets to his routine.
"We're hoping it helps us, hoping we win some extra money," he said.
Drawings are on Tuesdays and Fridays, and 35 percent of all ticket sales go to the state and public education.
