BATON ROUGE - The owner of several durable medical equipment companies that operated in Louisiana has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in multiple Medicare fraud schemes involving fraudulent claims and illegal kickback payments.

U.S. District Judge James J. Brady sentenced 37-year-old Henry Lamont Jones, of Prairieville, on Tuesday. He also ordered Jones to pay $13.3 million in restitution and serve three years of supervised release following the prison term.

Jones and his ex-wife, Chikenna D. Jones, were convicted of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and to pay or receive health care kickbacks in November 2011 for their role in the operation of McKenzie Healthcare Solutions Inc.

Chikenna Jones was sentenced in July to seven years in prison.
