The mayor of New Roads and the mayor and police chief of White Castle made their first appearance before a federal judge. All three were indicted yesterday for accepting money to promote a private business.
New Roads Mayor Tommy Nelson, Jr. is charged with racketeering. White Castle Mayor Maurice Brown and his brother, Police Chief Mario Brown, face the same charge and mail and wire fraud.
