BATON ROUGE- Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden says he will name the city's next police chief no later than Wednesday, and he will be making the choice from the five candidates recommended by an advisory committee he assembled last month.
The Advocate reports Holden interviewed the three local candidates on Thursday, and will interview the two out-of-town candidates on Monday.
The five finalists are: Willard Keith Bates, a criminal investigator with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality; April Overman, a former New Orleans Police officer; Jamie Fields, a former Detroit deputy police chief; Lonnie Lockett, Baton Rouge Police Department Major Assault Division commander; and Donald White, Louisiana State Police Emergency Services Unit commander.
