Mayor presents Future EBR plan
BATON ROUGE- Mayor Kip Holden and planning consultant John Fregonese presented the draft for the Future EBR plan today at the Old State Capitol.
Community members helped mold the plan for development in East Baton Rouge Parish over the next 20 to 30 years. For most people, the number one concern is transportation.
"I think the roads and the transportation system is one thing and I also think the transportation between New Orleans and Shreveport could be accomplished with a good train service," Wesley McCoy said.
In addition to improving transportation across the parish, the plan also includes adding public parking and creating university districts with more retail and housing options.
"The plan is laying a good foundation for good steady growth, prosperity and improvement for the whole parish," Fregonese said.
The plan goes to Metro Council in September for approval.
