Tommy Nelson had few answers to give after two special council meetings were held to try to get him to talk about the possibility of an FBI investigation in New Roads.
Tonight, he spoke to News 2's Kristy Davis before the council met again. Nelson had little to say about why the FBI showed up at City Hall last Friday.
At a council meeting held Tuesday night, an audit did reference placing FEMA dollars used for Gustav recovery into the general fund. Those dollars were supposed to be separate.
The mayor maintained neither he nor the city's treasury secretary knew about the mistake. Still, no one confirmed whether that was the matter that brought the FBI out last Friday. It's not the only question left unanswered.
Despite a campaign sign on the main road, Nelson says he has not made a decision about running for re-election.
Qualifying for fall elections starts tomorrow and lasts through next Tuesday. The mayor says his announcement on whether he’ll run for re-election will come within that time frame.
